The Philippines remains home to spectacular islands, beaches, diving, and welcoming people, but thousands of travelers, expats, returning Filipinos, and long-term residents are increasingly discussing the problems that can make visiting the country frustrating. We examine those experiences, including complaints about transportation, tourist pricing, noise, power interruptions, overcrowded destinations, complicated travel between islands, and whether the Philippines still offers the value tourists expect from Southeast Asia.
We also look at why some former visitors say they are choosing Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and other Asian destinations instead, while others continue to defend the Philippines as one of the most beautiful and rewarding countries in the region
