‘Who in the hell do they think they are?’ Biden said of the Trump administration

Biden’s Hypocrisy on Full Display as He Attacks Trump Over Social Security

In a rare public appearance on Tuesday, Former President Joe Biden emerged from what many have described as a lengthy period of political dormancy to lob tired accusations at President Donald Trump—this time, over Social Security. But behind the dramatic rhetoric and carefully staged setting in Chicago lies a deeper story of political hypocrisy, historical revisionism, and a desperate attempt to deflect from a deeply unpopular presidency.

Speaking before a crowd of advocates and union members, Biden accused Trump of wanting to “wreck” Social Security so he could “rob” it—an inflammatory line that earned applause from left-leaning supporters but rang hollow for those familiar with Biden’s decades-long record on entitlement reform.

“He’s coming for your Social Security,” Biden warned. “Not because he doesn’t think we can afford it. Because he doesn’t think you deserve it.”

The president’s remarks are not just misleading—they’re stunningly hypocritical.

Biden’s Long Record of Targeting Entitlements

Before Democrats start clutching their pearls over Trump’s supposed intentions, they might want to revisit Joe Biden’s own track record. As a senator, Biden repeatedly backed efforts to cut or freeze Social Security and Medicare spending. In 1995, he openly supported freezing all federal spending, including entitlement programs, to reduce the deficit. During a Senate speech, he proudly declared:

“When I argued that we should freeze federal spending, I meant Social Security as well. I meant Medicare and Medicaid.”

This wasn’t some youthful misstep—it was a consistent theme throughout Biden’s career. Yet in 2025, the Biden campaign wants Americans to forget all that and believe he’s now the last line of defense against Republican cuts.

Let’s be clear: Biden is not a lifelong protector of Social Security. He’s a career politician who bends whichever way the political winds blow.

The Trump Administration’s Real Record

Despite the dramatic framing from the White House and its allies, former President Trump’s record on Social Security tells a different story—one focused on preserving benefits while addressing fraud and inefficiency.

Under Trump, there were no cuts to Social Security benefits. In fact, Trump repeatedly vowed to protect the program, saying, “I will do everything within my power to protect Medicare and Social Security.” His administration focused on tightening up abuses in the system, reducing wait times, and holding the bloated bureaucracy of the SSA accountable. That’s not gutting the system—it’s making it stronger for future generations.

And let’s not forget: during Trump’s presidency, Social Security cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) increased substantially due to strong economic growth and lower inflation—unlike the economic chaos we’re seeing under Biden.

A Desperate Deflection from Biden’s Own Failures

Biden’s speech was less about Trump and more about distraction. With his approval ratings still underwater, inflation still biting working families, and his own fitness for office increasingly questioned—even by Democrats—Biden is scrambling to regain political ground by returning to familiar scare tactics.

It’s the same playbook Democrats use every election cycle: accuse Republicans of wanting to throw grandma off a cliff. The difference is, in 2025, voters are wiser. They’re living through the results of Biden’s policies—crippling gas prices, open-border chaos, global instability, and rising crime in Democrat-run cities like Chicago.

Waving the Social Security flag now won’t save him.

The Bottom Line

President Biden’s attack on Trump over Social Security isn’t just disingenuous—it’s political theater. It’s a desperate attempt to rewrite history, cast Trump as the villain, and distract Americans from Biden’s own failed record on both the economy and entitlement reform.

While Biden reads from teleprompters and blames others, Trump is rallying voters on a platform of American strength, border security, and common-sense reforms. Voters should judge leaders not by the rhetoric they deliver in union halls, but by the results they deliver in office.

And by that standard, Biden doesn’t have a leg to stand on.
