Iran-backed rebel group says it clashed with US aircraft carrier 3 times in past day, as round of airstrikes said to target rebel-held districts in western Yemen
On Sunday morning, March 30, 2025, a ballistic missile launched from Yemen by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels was intercepted by Israel’s air defense systems before entering Israeli airspace. The missile launch triggered sirens across central Israel, including areas near Jerusalem and several West Bank settlements, prompting residents to seek shelter.
During the alert, a 42-year-old woman sustained moderate injuries after falling into a ditch alongside Route 1 between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem while attempting to reach shelter. She was transported to a Tel Aviv hospital with injuries to her limbs and back.
This incident marks at least the eighth Houthi missile attack on Israel since March 18, when the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) resumed operations against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. All missiles fired during this period have been intercepted without causing significant damage.
The US launched a series of airstrikes into Yemen overnight Friday.
Earlier on Sunday, Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed that the group engaged in three separate clashes with the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier in the Red Sea over the past day. These assertions follow a series of confrontations involving the Houthis, Israel, and the United States in the region.
The Houthi rebels, aligned with Iran, have been launching missiles and drones at Israel in support of Hamas fighters. In response, the United States has conducted airstrikes targeting Houthi strongholds in Yemen since mid-March, with President Donald Trump holding Iran accountable for these actions.
The IDF continues to monitor and respond to threats emanating from Yemen, utilizing advanced air defense systems to protect Israeli territory and civilians.
