Sweden Plans To Lower Criminal Age To 14 Amid Rise In Violent Crime By Children
The attempted decapitation in Belfast is a shocking and brutal crime that has understandably sparked widespread public outrage. The foremost duty of any government is to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, and when a violent attack is allegedly carried out by someone who entered through the immigration system, questions about border control, vetting procedures, and public safety are both reasonable and unavoidable. However, legitimate concerns about immigration and crime should not be used to justify violence, vandalism, or attacks against innocent individuals, businesses, or communities. The deeper issue is whether political leaders are prepared to address public concerns openly and honestly before trust in institutions deteriorates further. A stable society depends on the consistent application of law and equal justice for everyone. Those responsible for the attack should face the full consequences of the law, and those who engage in rioting, arson, and destruction should be held equally accountable.
