ABC News Was Forced to Retract Some Grade-A Fake News About Israel’s Gaza Offensive

ABC News recently retracted a report alleging that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had distributed leaflets containing disturbing messages prior to a ground operation in Gaza. The retraction followed the IDF’s denial of such actions and ABC News’ inability to verify the authenticity of the leaflets.

The original article claimed that the IDF had disseminated these leaflets warning Gaza residents about impending evacuations from battle zones. However, after further investigation, ABC News issued an editor’s note stating:

“An earlier version of this article said that the IDF had dropped leaflets with disturbing messaging. ABC News has not been able to confirm the authenticity of these leaflets. The IDF denies dropping these leaflets.”
