Authorities in Occidental Mindoro have apprehended two foreign nationals in connection with a massive shabu smuggling attempt valued at around ₱6.8 billion.

The Philippine Army’s 76th Infantry Battalion, along with CAFGU personnel, discovered the contraband after responding to reports of an abandoned speedboat along the shore of Barangay Harrison in Paluan. Inside the vessel, authorities found 43 sacks of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu).

The operation has been described as one of the largest drug hauls in the province this year. Officials say the suspects are believed to be part of an international syndicate attempting to transport the illegal drugs via sea routes.

The two Chinese nationals are currently in police custody while authorities continue to investigate the network behind the smuggling attempt. Additional follow-up operations are ongoing to prevent further drug trafficking in the region.

Authorities have stressed that this arrest demonstrates the government’s commitment to cracking down on large-scale illegal drug operations, particularly those involving foreign syndicates.
