An Israeli drone strike near the Lebanon-Syria border wounded six people, including five Syrians and one Lebanese person, according to Lebanese health authorities, Al Jazeera reported. The incident adds to continuing security concerns along the border as hostilities involving Israel and armed groups in the region continue.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that the drone targeted a vehicle near Hawsh al-Sayyid Ali, in the northeastern Hermel district. The area lies close to the Syrian border and had largely avoided similar attacks since a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah was agreed in June.

The Israeli military said it targeted a Syrian man it accused of operating under Iranian direction and planning attacks against Israeli civilians and Israeli forces in southern Syria. Israel identified the alleged target as Yusuf Ali al-Hassoun. The military’s claims about his activities have not been independently verified, and it was not immediately clear whether he was among the six wounded.

The strike highlights the continuing fragility of the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. Israel has continued military operations in Lebanon and Syria, saying it aims to prevent threats near its borders. Lebanese and Syrian officials have criticized Israeli military actions, while the continued attacks raise concerns about further escalation across the region.
