Judge rules in favor of high school that banned ‘XX’ wristband protest because it was ‘trans-exclusionary’

A federal judge has ruled in favor of the Bow School District in New Hampshire, supporting its decision to ban parents from school events after they wore pink wristbands inscribed with “XX” to protest a transgender student participating in a girls’ soccer game.

The wristbands, referencing the female chromosome pair, were worn by parents as a silent demonstration advocating for biological distinctions in women’s sports. School officials halted the game and issued “no trespass” orders against the protesting parents, citing concerns over potential harassment and intimidation of the transgender student involved.

U.S. District Court Judge Steven McAuliffe stated that the school district acted within its rights to ensure a safe environment for all students, emphasizing the school’s obligation to protect students from speech that could be perceived as targeting or demeaning.

‘The judge openly admitted that Pride flags are allowed because they promote “inclusion,” but wristbands defending women’s sports are banned because they might “offend” someone.’

The parents, represented by the Institute for Free Speech, argued that their First Amendment rights were violated, asserting that their silent protest was a form of protected speech in a public forum. They contended that the school’s actions constituted viewpoint discrimination, especially given that other forms of expression, such as Pride flags, are permitted on school grounds.

The legal team is currently evaluating options for further action, maintaining that the issue centers on free speech and the fair treatment of differing viewpoints within educational settings.

This case highlights the ongoing national debate over the inclusion of transgender athletes in school sports and the balance between ensuring inclusive environments and upholding free speech rights.

PARENTS’ POINT OF VIEW

From a conservative parents’ perspective, the court’s ruling feels like a clear violation of First Amendment rights and parental authority. Wearing a wristband with “XX” — a factual biological marker — was a peaceful, silent protest intended to defend fairness in girls’ sports, not incite hate or harassment.

These parents believe that schools should protect biological integrity in women’s sports and that free speech — especially when rooted in science and traditional values — must not be silenced just because it challenges progressive ideologies. To them, banning respectful dissent while flying Pride flags or promoting gender ideology sends a double standard: free expression is only allowed if it aligns with left-leaning views.

In their view, parents have a right — and a duty — to speak up when schools make decisions that affect their daughters’ safety, fairness, and opportunities. Forcing them off school property for silent protest not only undermines that right but also sends a chilling message to any parent who dares to push back against radical gender policies.

Bottom line: Conservatives see this as another example of government overreach, cultural censorship, and the erosion of parental rights in education — all under the guise of “inclusion.”

CONCLUSION:

This case is a wake-up call for parents across America: peaceful dissent rooted in biological truth is now grounds for punishment in schools. By upholding the ban on “XX” wristbands, the court effectively sided with political correctness over constitutional rights — sending the message that only certain viewpoints are welcome in public education.

This isn’t just about a wristband — it’s about free speech, fairness in girls’ sports, and the right of parents to stand up for their values without being labeled as threats. The ruling reinforces a growing belief on the right that public institutions are becoming increasingly hostile to traditional values and scientific reality, especially when it comes to gender.

The takeaway: if parents don’t speak up and defend their rights, those rights will be quietly stripped away. This decision only deepens the resolve of conservatives to fight for fairness, freedom, and truth — especially when it comes to protecting the next generation.
