CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh — Two Bangladesh Army soldiers were killed and an Army officer was seriously injured in an accident during a field-firing exercise at the Hathazari Field Firing Range in Chattogram on September 9, according to Bangladesh’s Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).
The accident occurred while a tank was being used for live-fire training. The injured officer was airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka for advanced medical treatment. ISPR said an investigation was being conducted to determine the cause of the accident.
The identities of the injured officer and the second soldier were initially not released. The Daily Star separately reported that one of the soldiers killed was 28-year-old Abu Bakar Siddique Pias.
