Yet Another Embarrassment From The National Academy Of Pseudoscience
“How does radiation work?” is an article in wattsupwiththat.com, a week ago, written by Kevin Kilty.
There he argues that laboratory experiments in reagent tubes with carefully picked gases somehow resemble the real atmosphere. He also believes infrared radiation, somehow, for some unknown reason, radiates back to the surface to reheat its own heat source.
Alarmist NASA reported in 2021, “NASA Satellites See Upper Atmosphere Cooling and Contracting Due to Climate Change.”
That was the headline. Of course none of that is happening due to “climate change,” as in man-made global warming (AGW), simply because that doesn’t exist in the real world. However, more plant food (CO₂) would lead to more efficient cooling, as more plant food (CO₂) adds to the cooling by spreading, scattering, and thinning energy at a higher rate, and it does it more freely at higher altitudes due to lower pressure. The higher pressure at the surface does the opposite, preventing plant food (CO₂) cooling. This lack of cooling is what some of the alarmists think is warming. Over 99% of the surface warming is done by the sun; all measurable surface cooling is done by convection (weather) due to the lower atmosphere’s density.
What individual molecules do in a controlled environment is irrelevant in the real world.
